May 21, 2022

1-3pm, Saturday May 21st at the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub garden.

Seedy Saturday is looking different this year (again!). Thanks to our partnership with the Medicine Hat Public Library, there is now a permanent seed exchange available for gardeners to share their seeds all year round. But Seedy Saturday is about more than just seed swapping seeds, it’s about gardeners of all experience levels coming together to share ideas, learn and grow.

This year we are hosting a free event at the Community Garden at the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub. We have an array of events planned for the day:
-Seed Swap
-Help plant out the community garden
-Bring a pot and start your own container herb planter (potting soil and seeds provided)
-Get your pruners sharpened by The Sharpener (10$ cash or debit/credit)
-Donate cash or non-perishable food items to the Root Cellar and take home a bucket of compost (BYOB = bring your own bucket)
-Plant sale (cash only)
-Door Prize = Large Good Food Box from Community Food Connections Association

We will be having brief presentations on a variety of topics from Brendan & Tabitha Cairns of Lilac Cottage, Amber from Coderre Flower Farm, and information on xeriscaping from Cathy Linowski.

Be prepared for the weather and be sure to bring hats, water, sunscreen and a lawnchair.

Location: access the gardens behind the Root Cellar (440 Maple Ave SE) via the gate at the back of the property that opens onto 5th St. SE. There is free street parking.

We are still looking for a few volunteers! Please call Genevieve at 403-878-2578 or email cfcagarden@gmail.com
