March 29, 2014

1-3pm, Saturday March 29th in the Honor Currie Room, Medicine Hat Public Library

So your neighbour wants back yard chickens, what's next?

Medicine Hat CLUCK and the Hat Food Movement are hosting an informational afternoon about Urban Chicken keeping.

Come and get answers to questions: Why? Do they smell? Are they noisy? How many eggs could they provide to my family? Do they increase the risk of d...isease? Do I need a rooster? What communities are doing this successfully? Are they good for my lawn? Will they bring wildlife into my neighbourhood? Will this affect the value of my house? What are the costs? These questions and more!

Guest Speakers include:
Nichole Neubauer of Neubauer Farms (Growing Mind Tours) on, 'How to raise and keep healthy chickens'.
Kimara White is a local farmer who keeps a flock of chickens,
Shelly Lagran on 'Creator of CLUCK Medicine Hat', successful communities and current interest on a national level,
Charity Briere from CLUCK Red Deer (via Skype) talking about her experience with the Red Deer Pilot Program and keeping backyard chickens.
